CHICAGO – Behind game-highs of 19 points, 16 rebounds and four steals by sophomore forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers), the No. 11 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team pulled away from Indiana University-South Bend (IUSB) to capture an 80-68 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) victory Tuesday evening at the Shannon Center in Chicago.  The Cougars (14-3 overall/9-3 CCAC) also got a huge performance from junior point guard Jordan Brandt (Winamac, Ind./Winamac), who tied a career-high with 16 points behind a game-best four three-pointers.  With the victory, SXU won its seventh straight game dating back to the middle of December.

Sophomore guard Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) also finished in double figures Tuesday netting 18 points on efficient 9-for-18 shooting from the field.  Senior point guard Romisha Taylor (Chicago, Ill./Von Stueben) helped control the pace of the SXU offense dishing out 10 assists, which tied her previous career mark in the category.  Freshman forward Caitlin McMahon (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) had a solid night as well recording eight points and eight rebounds.   The Titans came out firing going ahead, 7-0, in the game's first two minutes, but the Cougars answered with 10 straight points to pull ahead, 10-7.  The game went back and forth for the next 10 minutes of play before Stuut scored 11 straight points to give Saint Xavier a 37-32 lead with four minutes remaining in the half.  IUSB never recovered and fell behind, 47-37, at the break and trailed by double figures for most of the second half.  The Cougars frustrated the Titans with a tough defense throughout the evening posting 13 steals, which helped lead to 21 turnovers by the visitors.

Saint Xavier (14-3 overall/9-3 CCAC) travels down to Bourbonnais, Ill., to take on No. 6 ranked Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in conference action on Thursday, January 10.  The game is slated for a 5:30 p.m. start.
