CHICAGO - Amy Kennedy, a senior catcher at Pontiac High School in Pontiac, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar softball program. She will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2007 and will compete for playing time at catcher during the 2008 season.
Kennedy is the daughter of Bob and Stephanie Kennedy, both of Pontiac. She is currently coached by Amy Krause as an Indian at Pontiac High School. Kennedy will pursue a degree in elementary education next year at Saint Xavier University.
"Amy is a smart, talented player with great leadership abilities," said Saint Xavier University head softball coach Myra Minuskin. "She handles pitchers very well and is a solid hitter. Amy will be a great addition to our program."
