CHICAGO – The Saint Xavier University women's soccer team learned Saturday night that two of its freshmen players earned spots on the 2012 All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Soccer Team when the conference released the awards in conjunction with Saturday's CCAC Women's Soccer Tournament Championship. SXU had forward Lexi Cozzi (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) and defender Kelly Trojak (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) both earn spots on the second team for the 2012 All-CCAC squad.
Cozzi finished tied for the team lead in goals with seven scores on the season, while also contributing one assist and racking up a team-best total of 15 points. Trojak started in all 19 games for SXU picking up one goal and one assist for three points on the season.
The Cougars' season ended in the first round of the CCAC Tournament in a hard-fought battle against No. 2 seed Judson University (Ill.) that ended 4-3 in overtime. Saint Xavier finished its 2012 campaign with a 10-8-1 overall record under first-year head coach Evan Strehlau. The Cougars finished in a three-way tie for fifth place in the final conference standings with a 6-5 CCAC mark.
