Men's Track & Field - Tue, Apr. 29, 2008
Hillsdale, Mich. - Saint Xavier University sophomore John Neisler (Armington, Ill./Olympia) qualified for the 2008 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships by posting a time of 1:53.65 in the 800-meter run at the Gina Relays hosted by Hillsdale College (Mich.) in Hillsdale, Mich., on Saturday, April 25. Neisler finished eighth overall among 135 runners at this prestigious track invitational held each year in Hillsdale. His time eclipsed the NAIA qualifying mark of 1:54.0. Neisler joins senior Steven Bugarin (Chicago, Ill./Washington), who previously qualified for both the 10000-meter run and the marathon. "I am thrilled," said SXU men's track coach Ed McAllister. "It was a bit chilly Saturday, not necessarily the best conditions to accomplish such a feat. However, John was not to be denied. It was a quality race, probably John's best ever. That makes two(qualifiers) and I'm hoping for still more." The Saint Xavier University men's track team takes the weekend off and will compete at the Dr. Keeler Last Chance Meet in Naperville, Ill., on May 8-9. The NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships will take place in St. Louis, Mo., from May 22-24.
