South Bend, Ind. Behind a combined 27 kills by senior outside hitter Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team swept through the field at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Crossover Tournament hosted by Indiana University-South Bend (IUSB) in South Bend, Ind.  The Cougars (27-11 overall/16-1 CCAC) defeated Purdue University-North Central (Ind.) in Friday's opening match by scores of 25-15, 25-9 and 25-22 and then took down Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in three as well 25-20, 25-10 and 25-23 later that evening.  In Saturday's lone match against host IUSB, it was more of the same as SXU took the Titans by scores of 25-15, 25-12 and 25-15.

Mullaney led the way in Saint Xavier's first match against Purdue University-North Central posting a match-best 11 kills.  Senior setter Desiree Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./Radford University/Mother McAuley) also had a solid outing for the Cougars with 36 assists and three kills.  Sophomore middle blocker Marie Hackert (Evansville, Ind./Reitz Memorial) was tough both offensively and defensively in the match finishing with seven kills and five block assists.  In the second match against Olivet Nazarene, SXU got nine kills apiece from Mullaney, senior outside hitter Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) and freshman right side Meghan Falsey (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg).  Aramburu posted team-highs of 34 assists and 15 digs as well. 

In the victory over Indiana-South Bend Saturday, Saint Xavier got a balanced attack with five different players racking up six or more kills.  Hackert, Falsey and senior middle blocker Colleen O'Hara (Lemont, Ill./University of Iowa/Lemont) each recorded eight kills toward the winning effort, while Mullaney had six kills and two service aces.  Aramburu chipped in 29 assists, 12 digs and two aces as well.  The Cougars posted an attack percentage of .360 in the match with 40 team kills to just nine errors.

Saint Xavier (27-11 overall/16-1 CCAC) continues conference play on Tuesday, October 30, with a road match against Judson University (Ill).  The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start in Elgin, Ill.
