Bridgeview, Ill. – Led by a goal and an assist from sophomore midfielder Danielle Inzinga (Orland Park, Ill./Marist), the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team got back to its winning ways with a 4-1 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) victory over Roosevelt University (Ill.) Saturday morning at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill. The Cougars 10-5-1 overall/6-3-0 CCAC) scored one first-half goal and then added three more in the second half en route to the big win. The Lakers did not score until the final minute of the game thanks in part to another strong effort in goal by freshman keeper Cortney Jerzy (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township), who finished with three saves for SXU.
The scoring started in the 41st minute of action when Inzinga fed a pass to sophomore midfielder Morgan Graves (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) that she finished off to give Saint Xavier the 1-0 lead. The Cougars took the 1-0 advantage into halftime, but it did not last long as Inzinga put her team up 2-0 just over three minutes into the second half on an unassisted shot. Senior midfielder Nancy Schueth (Lincoln, Neb./Saint Pius X) scored SXU's third goal of the game in the 62nd minute on another unassisted shot. Ten minutes later, freshman defender Kelly Trojak (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) completed Saint Xavier's scoring with a third unassisted shot. The Cougars finished the game with 22 total shots, including 13 on goal.
Saint Xavier (10-5-1 overall/6-3-0 CCAC) hosts Robert Morris University (Ill.) on Wednesday, October 24, for its last home game of the 2012 regular season.
