Bellevue, Neb. - Unable to get its offense in a rhythm throughout the weekend, the Saint Xavier University volleyball team struggled dropping all three of its matches at the Bellevue University Bruin Premier Volleyball Classic in Bellevue, Neb.  The Cougars (21-8 overall) had three tough match-ups in the two-day Classic falling to No. 3 Columbia College (Mo.), No. 19 Viterbo University (Wis.) and host Bellevue University (Neb.).  Over the three matches, SXU racked up 68 attack errors.  Senior outside hitter Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) led the offensive attack for Saint Xavier finishing with 25 total kills.

In Friday's match against No. 3 Columbia College, the Cougars went down in three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-14 despite seven kills from Mullaney.  Senior setter Desiree Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./Radford University/Mother McAuley) had 15 assists, two kills and five digs in the match for SXU.  Senior outside hitter Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) recorded 12 kills in Friday's late match against No. 19 Viterbo, but Saint Xavier fell in four sets 16-25, 25-18, 21-25 and 18-25.  Mullaney posted nine kills and 15 digs, while Aramburu had another nice performance with 34 assists and nine digs.  Sophomore Marie Hackert (Evansville, Ind./Reitz Memorial) was solid defensively against Viterbo racking up six total blocks (one solo).

Senior middle blocker Colleen O'Hara (Lemont, Ill./University of Iowa/Lemont) and Mullaney each tallied nine kills for SXU in Saturday's match against Bellevue.  However, the offense continued to struggle and the Cougars fell again in three sets 26-24, 25-20 and 25-21.  Aramburu had four service aces and 32 assists in the match, while senior libero Christine Bowe (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) posted 20 digs.

Saint Xavier (21-8 overall/11-1 CCAC) returns to its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) slate on Tuesday, October 16, with a home match against Robert Morris University (Ill.).  The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
