CHICAGO – Scoring three of its four goals on the day in the second half, the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 victory over Holy Cross College (Ind.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action on a wet and chilly Saturday afternoon at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.  The Cougars have now won four straight and sit at 9-4-1 overall and 5-2-0 in conference play.  SXU also held its annual "Cougs Kick Cancer" during Saturday's game helping raise money for breast cancer research and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  Over the past four seasons, the Cougars have raised over $10,000 for the cause.  Freshman keeper Cortney Jerzy (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) racked up her sixth shutout of the season for SXU recording one save.

Junior forward Anita Balciunas (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) kicked off the scoring for Saint Xavier Saturday posting a goal off a header in the 36th minute of play.  Freshman forward Christina Szocka (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) provided the assist on the opening score on a nicely placed cross.  The Cougars took the 1-0 lead into halftime, but came out firing in the second half.  Sophomore midfielder Marissa Graves (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) put SXU ahead, 2-0, with a goal in the 51st minute set up by a cross from sophomore midfielder Monica Chavolla (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom).  The Cougars found the back of the net two more times with a pair of unassisted scores.  The first came off the foot of sophomore midfielder Danielle Inzinga (Orland Park, Ill./Marist) on a deep shot from 30 yards out in the 67th minute and the final one was made in the 89th minute by junior defender Jessica DePinto (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township).

Saint Xavier (9-4-1 overall/5-2-0 CCAC) goes on the road to take on CCAC foe Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) on Tuesday, October 16.  The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m. in Chicago.
