Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior righthander Ryan Quigley (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) was named the 2007 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Pitcher of the Year and senior third baseman Nick Tantillo (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew), senior designated hitter Ryan Buchler (Schererville, Ind./South Suburban CC) and freshman outfielder Tony Testin (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) were also all named to the 2007 All-CCAC Baseball Team when the honors were released Friday by the conference office. In addition, senior second baseman Craig Buske (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) earned a spot on the 2007 All-CCAC Honorable Mention Baseball Team, while Tantillo and Testin were both named to the 2007 All-CCAC Gold Glove Team.
Heading into this weekend's regular-season finale series against Illinois State University, Quigley has racked up a perfect 7-0 record over eight starts and 10 appearances on the mound and has a team-low 2.81 earned-run average. He also leads the team with 60 strikeouts over 64 innings of work. Tantillo is batting .336 (39-for-116) with nine doubles, 19 runs scored, and 22 RBI over 36 games. Buchler leads SXU with a .427 batting average (67-for-157), 49 RBI and 14 doubles over 44 games. He also has four triples, two home runs, and 33 runs scored to help build his team-high .605 slugging percentage. Testin is batting .382 (63-for-165) with nine doubles, two triples, and a team-high 43 runs scored. Buske has a .337 batting average (56-for-166) with five doubles, two triples, and two homers as well 35 runs scored, 34 RBI, and a team-best 12 stolen bases.
Saint Xavier (28-17 overall/18-2 CCAC) heads to Normal, Ill., this weekend for a three-game series against NCAA Division I Illinois State University to wrap up its regular season slate. Due to rain, the Cougars are now scheduled to kick off the series with two nine-inning games on Saturday, May 5, in Normal, weather permitting.
