CHICAGO – Saint Xavier University junior goalkeeper Kyle Held (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week when the honors were released Tuesday by the league office. He was instrumental in a pair of shutout victories for the Cougars last week with a 3-0 win over Cornerstone University (Mich.) last Wednesday and a 2-0 victory over Trinity International University (Ill.) in the conference opener this past Saturday.
Held earned the weekly honor for the second time this season (first came on August 27) after posting a pair of shutouts during the seven-day period ending September 23. He saved six shots total on the week. Four of the saves came in Wednesday's non-conference affair against Cornerstone. Held's two shutouts give him a league-leading three on the season and the 10th of his collegiate career.
Saint Xavier (5-3-0 overall/1-0-0 CCAC) hosts conference foe Trinity Christian College (Ill.) tonight at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
