Deerfield, Ill. – A pair of goals in the first 31 minutes of play proved to be too much to overcome as the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Trinity International University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Saturday afternoon in Deerfield, Ill. Freshman keeper Cortney Jerzy (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) finished the game with four saves for the Cougars. With the loss, SXU drops to 4-3-1 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play, while TIU improves to 6-0-1 on the year and 1-0-0 in the CCAC.
Sophomore midfielder Rachel Chapuis scored both goals for the Trojans Saturday. In the sixth minute of action, Chapuis scored the game's first goal on a header off an assist by junior midfielder Jessica Williams. Chapuis logged her second score off a shot that found the top corner of the goal in the 31st minute of play after the ball was deflected to her following a free kick.
Saint Xavier (4-3-1 overall/0-1-0 CCAC) continues its season on Wednesday, September 26, with a game against conference foe Trinity Christian College (Ill.). The home game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.
