CHICAGO – Limited to just one shot in the game, the No. 25 ranked Saint Xavier University men's soccer team fell to No. 1 Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.), 4-0, Saturday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium in Columbia, Ky. The Blue Raiders spread the scoring throughout the game taking a 2-0 lead at the half and tacking on two more goals after the break. Senior midfielder Kyle Breitenbach (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso University/Valparaiso) had SXU's lone shot attempt of the game, a shot on goal just over six minutes into regulation. Lindsey Wilson finished the game with 17 total shots, including eight on goal.
The Blue Raiders took the lead just four minutes and 10 seconds into the game on an unassisted shot by sophomore midfielder Renan Serafim. A shot by senior midfielder Eddy Campbell in the 26th minute put Lindsey Wilson ahead, 2-0, with the assist coming from senior forward Lebogang Moloto. In the second half, sophomore forward Philip Sandgren took an assist from Serafim and scored a goal to make it, 3-0, in the 76th minute. With seconds remaining in the game, Moloto scored on a shot assisted by Sandgren to complete the game's scoring. Sophomore keeper A.J. Pfatschbacher (West Dundee, Ill./Jacobs) got the start in goal for SXU and finished with four saves.
Saint Xavier (2-1-0 overall) heads to Goshen, Ind., on Thursday, September 6, for a match-up against Goshen College (Ind.). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. (eastern) start.
