Joliet, Ill. - The Saint Xavier University volleyball team had four of its student-athletes named to the 2005 All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Volleyball Team when the conference office released the honors Wednesday in Joliet, Ill. Senior Carrie Mockovak (Burbank, Ill./Queen of Peace) and junior Jessica Buchmeier (Steger, Ill./Bloom Trail) were both named to the All-CCAC First Team, while sophomore Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) and junior Paige Pedigo (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Queen of Peace) earned second team honors.
Mockovak led SXU in total blocks this season with 142 (44 solos), while also finishing third on the team in kills with 307. Buchmeier paced the Saint Xavier offense this season with a team-high 459 kills in addition to her team-high 457 digs. Looby was the Cougars' primary setter in 2005 totaling 1,098 set assists and led the team in service aces as well with 61. Pedigo finished second on the team in kills with 323.
SXU finished the 2005 season with a 21-19 overall record and finished in third place in the CCAC regular standings with a 7-2 mark. The Cougars fell in the first round of the CCAC Tournament with a loss to Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT).
