CHICAGO - Katie DuPree, a senior defender at Plainfield South High School in Plainfield, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. She was coached by Brandon Adkins during her prep career for the Cougars of Plainfield South.

DuPree is the daughter of Dave and Lori Dupree of Plainfield. She plans to pursue a degree in nursing next year at Saint Xavier University. Last season, Saint Xavier finished with an overall record of 19-4-0 (a new school record) and a No. 8 national ranking in the NAIA. The Cougars also qualified for the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in the program's 10-year history.

"Katie is a strong defender with great speed and excellent anticipation of reading the game," said Saint Xavier University women's soccer coach Derek Begich. "She is a sweeper at Plainfield South, but is also a great outside back, who will look to compete for a starting spot. Katie will definitely help strengthen our defense."
