Joliet, Ill. – Saint Xavier University sophomore right-hander Megan Nonnemacher (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week when the conference office announced the awards Tuesday morning. Nonnemacher logged a pair of wins last week, including a big 3-1 conference victory over No. 13 ranked Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in Bourbonnais last Thursday. It is the second week in a row that SXU has claimed the weekly pitching honor with senior Amie Brown (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) earning it last Tuesday.
Nonnemacher threw all seven innings in the win over Olivet Nazarene and allowed just four hits, one run (earned) and two walks with seven strikeouts. She followed that performance with a two-hit shutout against Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) on Saturday. On the week, she racked up 13 strikeouts over 14 innings of work. Nonnemacher currently leads the team with a 14-4 record and also owns team-bests of 120 strikeouts, eight shutouts and a 1.35 earned-run average (ERA).
Saint Xavier (26-9 overall/11-3 CCAC) hosts a conference doubleheader with Purdue University-North Central (Ind.) this afternoon at SXU Softball Field in Chicago. The first game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
