CHICAGO – Shannon Pedersen, a senior pitcher/first baseman at St. Charles East High School in St. Charles, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar softball program. The St. Charles, Ill., native will join the SXU community for the 2012-13 academic year and compete for playing time on the field during the 2013 campaign. Pedersen is currently playing for the Fighting Saints this spring under the direction of St. Charles East head softball coach Kelly Horan.
Pedersen is the daughter of Glenn and Sherri Pedersen of St. Charles. She plans to pursue a degree in biology next year at Saint Xavier University. The Fighting Saints are currently 9-7 overall this season.
"Shannon is a perfect fit for our program," said Saint Xavier University softball coach Myra Minuskin. "She will round out an extremely talented pitching staff. Shannon is a good athlete and will contribute with her bat as well."
