Joliet, Ill. – Saint Xavier University senior right-hander Amie Brown (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week when the conference office announced the awards Tuesday.  Brown tied a NAIA national record last week by throwing her second perfect game of the season in a 10-0 road win over Trinity International University (Ill.) on Tuesday, April 3.  She threw her first perfect game of the season on Tuesday, February 28, in a 2-0 victory over Adrian College (Mich.) in Clermont, Fla.  It is the time this year that a SXU pitcher or player has earned the weekly conference honor.

In the game against TIU, Brown racked up seven strikeouts over the five-inning affair to tie the national mark.  In a 5-2 conference win over Judson University (Ill.) on Thursday, April 5, she threw all seven frames and allowed just four hits, two runs (both earned) and two walks with nine strikeouts.  Brown improved to 9-2 overall this season with the pair of victories last week.  She currently ranks third in the CCAC in total strikeouts (80) and is second in both shutouts (4) and opponent batting average (.189).

Saint Xavier (23-8 overall/8-2 CCAC) heads to Bourbonnais, Ill., on Thursday, April 12, for a big conference doubleheader against No. 14 ranked Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.).  The first game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
