Whiting, Ind. – Scoring a combined 10 runs over the seventh and eighth innings, the Saint Xavier University baseball team rallied for a 12-5 victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) at Oil City Stadium Friday night in Whiting, Ind.  The Cougars (22-11 overall/9-4 CCAC) trailed 5-2 heading into the seventh inning before cranking out seven hits, including three-RBI triples from senior shortstop Adam Koglin (Henderson, Nev./UNLV/Silverado) and sophomore leftfielder Brad Myjak (Tinley Park, Ill./Mount Carmel), to highlight the 10-run surge.  Sophomore right-hander Scott Vachon (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) got the win (4-2) for SXU throwing the first six frames and giving up eight hits, five runs (all earned) and a walk with four strikeouts.  Senior Austin Lehmann (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka) got his fourth save of the year closing out the final three innings by allowing just two hits with five strikeouts.

Junior third baseman Mike Pokers (Lansing, Ill./Andrean) led the offensive attack for the Cougars Friday going 3-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI.  Koglin finished 2-for-6 with the triple, two runs scored and four RBI; while Myjak went 1-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and three RBI.  The Crimson Wave kicked off the game's scoring in the bottom of the second going ahead 1-0 on a RBI double.  A two-RBI triple in the third inning would make the score, 3-0, in favor of the home team and the lead would extend to 4-0 in the fourth on a sacrifice bunt following a one-out triple.  Senior second baseman Tom Simek (New Lenox, Ill./St. Laurence) would bring home Saint Xavier's first run in the top of the fifth off an infield error and Koglin would get another RBI off a fielder's choice later in the frame to make it, 4-2.  A RBI single by Calumet in the sixth made the score, 5-2, heading into the final three innings.  The Cougar bats would come alive in the late stages of the game with the pair of three-RBI triples highlighting the rally.  Lehmann would shut down the CCSJ bats in the last three frames helping pave the way for the SXU comeback.

Saint Xavier (22-11 overall/9-4 CCAC) wraps up its three-game, conference series with Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) on Saturday, April 7.  The two teams will play a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field in Chicago.
