CHICAGO – Alexis Cozzi, a senior forward at Lockport Township High School in Lockport, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. The Lockport native is currently a forward for Porters under the direction of head coach Todd Elkei and also plays club soccer for the Chicago International Soccer Club coached by Rick Lakie and Sena Halilovic.
Cozzi is the daughter of Adam and Jill Cozzi of Lockport. She plans to pursue a degree in biology starting this fall at Saint Xavier University. SXU women's soccer coach Jeremy Ekeler is thrilled with Cozzi's decision to join the program and excited about the wealth of attributes she will bring to the team.
"Lexi is a player we have had on our radar for a couple of years and we feel fortunate she chose to be a Cougar at this late stage," said Ekeler. "She has the unique ability to alter the momentum of a match in the blink of an eye, which is something I witnessed during the recruiting period at both the high school and club level against some very strong competition. Lexi is strong, assertive, confident and plays with a chip on her shoulder when near the goal. She is a great addition at a position of need and another tremendous student."
