Sophomore Justin Cousin hit 18 kills for the second straight match Thursday against Limestone

CHICAGO – Sophomore outside hitter Justin Cousin (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) posted a match-high 18 kills for the second straight match, but the Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team dropped a tough one to NCAA Division II Limestone College (S.C.) Thursday night at the Shannon Center in Chicago.  The Cougars (7-15 overall) fell in four sets 27-25, 25-13, 23-25 and 25-11.  The visiting Saints had too much offensive momentum racking up 53 kills and six service aces in the match.  Limestone improves its overall record to 10-6 with Thursday's victory. 

Junior outside hitter Aaron Porter (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) also played well for SXU finishing with nine kills, while Cousin proved tough defensively leading the Cougars with six digs.  Freshman setter Dan French (Chicago, Ill./Notre Dame) created the offensive attack for Saint Xavier with 24 assists.  Freshman middle blocker Sean Blackwood (Manhattan, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) and sophomore right side Evan Muys (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) each recorded four block assists for SXU.  Limestone was led by junior right side Scott Warren with 17 kills and six total blocks (one solo).

Saint Xavier (7-15 overall/4-8 MAMVIC) will host Lindenwood University (Mo.) on Friday, March 16, in crossover action in the Mid-America Men's Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference (MAMVIC).  The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Shannon Center.
