CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University senior forward Mary Kusner (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) was sensational shooting 8-for-10 from the field for 21 points and pulling down eight rebounds as No. 14 Saint Xavier University defeated Robert Morris University (Ill.), 89-68, on "Senior Day" Saturday afternoon in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) women's basketball action at the Shannon Center in Chicago.  All four seniors were key contributors in Saturday's big victory, including another nice outing by senior guard Marissa Young (Monroe, Wis./St. Joseph's College/Monroe) with a game-best 26 points to go along with five rebounds and four steals.  The Cougars improve to 21-8 overall and 7-3 in the conference standings with the win, while Robert Morris drops to 16-11 overall and 4-6 in the CCAC.

Senior forward Brittany Jones (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) chipped in eight rebounds, eight assists and six blocks for SXU, while senior guard Michelle Tourtillott (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) was instrumental as well with seven points and five assists.  Freshman guard/forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) had a nice outing as well for the Cougars with 15 points and eight rebounds, while freshman guard Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) went 5-for-10 from the field for 10 points.  As a team, SXU shot a stellar 53 percent (33-for-62) from the floor, including a 9-for-18 clip (50 percent) from three-point range.  The game was tight early on before the Cougars used an 18-7 scoring run midway through the first half to pull away for good.  SXU led 49-31 at the halftime break.

Saint Xavier (21-8 overall/7-3 CCAC) will take the No. 2 seed into next week's CCAC Tournament, which begins on Tuesday, February 28.  The Cougars will get a first-round bye due to their seed and host a home game on Thursday, March 1, at either 5 p.m. or 7 p.m. (dependent on men's final seeding) at the Shannon Center.
