Joliet, Ill. - Shooting 67 percent (43-for-64) from the field for the game, the Saint Xavier University men's basketball team rolled to a 94-72 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) victory over rival University of St. Francis (Ill.) Wednesday night in Joliet, Ill. The Cougars (21-8 overall/6-3 CCAC) led practically the entire game after jumping out to a 12-3 lead in the opening four minutes and leading 50-28 at the halftime break. Four SXU players scored in double figures Wednesday night led by sophomore guard Brad Karp (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) with team-highs of 18 points and eight rebounds.
Some of the other key performers for Saint Xavier included sophomore forward Mark Peters (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) with 15 points off 7-for-8 shooting, freshman guard Jack Krieger (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) dropping 14 points and junior point guard Anthony Grant (South Holland, Ill./Prairie State CC/Thornridge) posting 13 points. Junior point guard Roosevelt Green (Markham, Ill./Tinley Park) was impressive leading SXU's offensive charge finishing with 13 assists as well as four steals defensively, both game-high totals. Seniors Lukas Zebrauskas and Robbie Butcher led the Fighting Saints with 17 points apiece.
Saint Xavier (21-8 overall/6-3 CCAC) wraps up regular season play on Saturday, February 25, with a tough conference match-up against No. 3 ranked Robert Morris University (Ill.). The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
