Adrian, Mich. – Freshman middle blocker Sean Blackwood (Manhattan, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) had team-bests of 13 kills and three block assists to lead the Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team in a four-set, non-conference loss to Siena Heights University (Mich.) Monday night at the SHU Fieldhouse in Adrian, Mich. The Cougars (4-12 overall) fell by scores of 20-25, 25-23, 17-25 and 26-28. Junior outside hitter Aaron Porter (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) also played well for SXU finishing with 12 kills and seven digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Justin Cousin (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) reached double digits in kills as well for the Cougars Monday with 11 kills to go along with a pair of service aces. Freshman libero Adam Sieger (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) and freshman setter Jim Boyce (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) were both tough defensively with nine digs apiece. In addition, Boyce led SXU with 27 assists. Blackwood had just one attack error on the night and finished the match with a stellar attack percentage of .632.
Saint Xavier (4-12 overall/2-6 MAMVIC) hosts the SXU Tri-Match with Saint Ambrose University (Iowa) and Siena Heights University at the Shannon Center on Friday, February 24. The Cougars take on Siena Heights in the conference match at 4 p.m. and then take on Saint Ambrose at 8 p.m.
