CHICAGO - Senior guard Marissa Young (Monroe, Wis./St. Joseph's College/Monroe) did a little bit of everything, including sinking a pair of crucial free throws with 27 seconds to play, that helped seal a 68-64 win for the No. 14 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Indiana University-South Bend (IUSB) Saturday afternoon at the Shannon Center in Chicago.  The Cougars led by as many as 15 points, 53-38, with 12:42 remaining in the game before the Titans made their big push with a 17-5 run over the game's next six minutes to trim the deficit to three, 58-55.  Young finished with team-bests of 21 points, five assists and six steals, while also pulling down four rebounds on the day.

IUSB would make things even more interesting with 2:30 left to play cutting it to a one-point game, 63-62, on a jumper by junior forward Courtney Simpson.  Fortunately for SXU, the Titans missed some key baskets down the stretch and big free throws from freshman guard/forward Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic), senior forward Brittany Jones (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) and Young kept the lead from being relinquished.  Senior forward Mary Kusner (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) had a nice game off the bench for the Cougars shooting 5-for-6 from the field for 12 points.  The Titans were led by sophomore forward Emily Strilich with team-highs of 23 points and eight rebounds.  Freshman guard/forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) led SXU on the boards Saturday with nine rebounds to go along with her eight points and three assists.

Saint Xavier (20-7 overall/6-2 CCAC) heads to Joliet, Ill., on Tuesday, February 21, for a game against CCAC rival University of St. Francis (Ill.).  The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
