CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University football coach Mike Feminis can't wait for Saturday, April 28, to arrive. This Saturday marks the date of his annual SXU Spring Football Game, which begins at 11 a.m. at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. The game will consist of 80-100 plays and is open and free to the general public. Fans in attendance will also have the opportunity to enter a "Split the Pot" drawing as well as a raffle for an autographed Cougar game jersey.
"This is an event I look forward to every year," said Feminis. "It gives our coaching staff a chance to evaluate our team, but it is also an opportunity for our fans to see the team and catch some new faces on the field. I think most of our guys are also itching to get back on the field, so it gives them an opportunity to hone their skills during the offseason."
Saint Xavier had an impressive 2006 campaign finishing with a 10-3 overall record and ranked No. 9 nationally, while qualifying for the NAIA Championship Series for only the third time in the program's 14-year history. SXU advanced all the way to the NAIA semi-finals before falling to No. 1 ranked University of Saint Francis (Ind.) in December marking the first time the Cougars have moved past the first round in postseason play.
