Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University sophomore guard Brad Karp (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week Monday evening for the third time this season. Karp averaged 27.5 points and 10.0 rebounds over SXU's two games last week, a thrilling 90-87 overtime win over Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) and a tough 70-62 road loss to Indiana University-South Bend (IUSB). It is also the second time this month he has achieved the honor after earning it back on January 17.
Karp scored 35 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the Cougars in the 90-87 overtime victory over conference rival Olivet Nazarene last Tuesday night at the Shannon Center in Chicago. He followed that impressive performance with 20 points and nine rebounds in Saturday's road loss to the Titans. On the week, Karp shot a stellar 64 percent (21-for-33) from the field and 6-for-9 (67 percent) from three-point range. He leads the conference in scoring averaging 23.2 points a game and is third overall in rebounding at 8.2 rebounds per game.
Saint Xavier (16-6 overall/2-1 CCAC) hosts conference rival University of St. Francis (Ill.) on Wednesday, February 1. The home game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
