Kenosha, Wis. – Saint Xavier University junior Rachael Dean (Lindenhurst, Ill./Judson University/Lakes) qualified for the 2012 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in the 3,000-meter run over the weekend at the Tadd Metzger Invitational at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. She finished second overall in the race with a time of 10:29.06, nearly a full second faster than the NAIA's "A" standard qualifying mark of 10:30.00. It was one of the key individual highlights for the Cougars in just their second indoor track meet of the 2012 season.
Last season, Dean finished in third place overall and earned All-American status at the national meet in the 3,000-meter run. She ran a personal-best time of 10.06.69 to claim the prestigious honor. The 2012 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships is scheduled to take place from March 1-3 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Saint Xavier heads to Bloomington, Ill., this weekend to take part in the Keck Invitational hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University. The meet is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start on Saturday, February 4.
