CHICAGO – Joshua D. Mawhorr, a 6-7 senior forward/center at Muncie Central High School in Muncie, Ind., recently signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar men's basketball program. The Muncie native was a recipient of the SXU Presidential Scholarship in addition to his basketball scholarship. Under the direction of Matt Fine, Mawhorr averaged 9.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game during his junior season with the Bearcats.

Mawhorr also plays baseball at Muncie Central and was named to the all-conference team during both his sophomore and junior seasons. As a senior forward/center this season, he is averaging 7.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and a team-leading 2.1 blocks as a Bearcat.
"Josh is an excellent post player, but also has the ability to shoot from the outside," said Saint Xavier University men's basketball coach Tom O'Malley. "He is a smart player and I believe he is a perfect fit for our program, especially with the players we have returning next season."
