Joliet, Ill. – Saint Xavier University freshman guard/forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week Monday afternoon when the honor was released by the conference office. It is the second straight week that she has claimed the weekly honor and the third time over the first five weeks of the season. In a pair of games at the Olivet Nazarene University Holiday Inn Express Classic in Bourbonnais, Ill., Stuut averaged a double-double of 21.0 points and 10.0 rebounds to lead the No. 13 ranked Cougars to victories over Houghton College (N.Y.) and Harris-Stowe State University (Mo.).
Stuut shot an amazing 58 percent (15-for-26) from the field at the tourney and also posted a combined four assists and six steals. She had her best game of her young career in Saturday's 90-60 win over Harris-Stowe State when she recorded 27 points and 10 rebounds. Stuut shot 9-for-16 from the field (56 percent) in that game. She is currently ranked No. 4 overall in the conference in scoring (14.1 points per game) and leads the CCAC in rebounding averaging 9.1 boards per game.
Saint Xavier (9-2 overall) is off for the next two weeks and returns to action on Monday, December 19, with a game against University of Alaska-Anchorage at the Hoop N' Surf Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. (central) start.
