Joliet, Ill. – Saint Xavier University sophomore forward Mark Peters (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week Tuesday when the weekly award was released by the conference office. In SXU's one game of the week, Peters posted a double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the No. 24 ranked Cougars to an 83-68 home victory over Holy Cross College (Ind.) last Tuesday. It is the first time this season that Peters has earned the award and the second time it has gone to a Saint Xavier player with sophomore guard Brad Karp (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) earning it last week.
Peters shot an impressive 9-for-13 (69 percent) from the field in last Tuesday's win. The Cougars trailed by seven points, 39-32, at the half, but Peters helped rally the team for 51 points in second-half action to claim the 15-point victory. He currently sits No. 8 overall in rebounding in the conference averaging 6.0 boards a game.
Saint Xavier (6-3 overall) hosts Silver Lake College (Wis.) on Saturday, December 3, at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
