Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior right fielder Nicole Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Week Friday after her impressive individual outing in SXU's four games last week. Barker helped lead the Cougars to three CCAC victories last week as the team finished 3-1 defeating rival University of St. Francis (Ill.) twice and splitting a doubleheader with Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.).
Barker captured the honor for the second time in three weeks after authoring a .600 batting average (9-for-15) and .933 slugging percentage over last week's four-game stretch. Barker hit safely in all four games with three multi-hit contests and a pair of three-hit games. She also registered a double, two triples, four runs scored, three RBI, and a stolen base on the week.
Saint Xavier (18-10 overall/12-2 CCAC) heads to Springfield, Ill., this weekend to participate in the two-day University of Illinois-Springfield (Ill.) Invitational. The Cougars will play two games on Saturday, April 21, and will wrap up the event with two more games on Sunday, April 22.
