CHICAGO – Behind a combined 31 points by senior forward Mary Kusner (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) and freshman forward Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic), No. 13 ranked Saint Xavier University rolled to a 94-65 win over Holy Cross College (Ind.) in NAIA women's basketball action Tuesday evening at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The pair also combined to shoot an impressive 13-for-16 from the field. Every single player on the SXU active roster scored at least two points in Tuesday's game making the win a complete team effort. Kusner finished with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Broski came off the bench to chip in 15 points.
Freshman guard/forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) also had another solid outing for the Cougars with 12 points and game-best nine rebounds. Junior point guard Romisha Taylor (Chicago, Ill./Von Stueben) did a little bit of everything posting 10 points, six assists and three steals. SXU shot 50 percent (37-for-74) from the floor, including a 42 percent (5-for-12) clip from beyond the three-point arc. The Cougars also distributed the ball well with 26 assists as a team and were tough defensively with 19 steals.
Saint Xavier (5-2 overall) heads to Lebanon, Ill., for the McKendree University Tournament this weekend. The Cougars take on the host Bearcats on Friday, November 25, at 7 p.m. and then wrap up play in the tourney on Saturday with a 2 p.m. match-up against Avila University (Mo.).
