Joliet, Ill. – Saint Xavier University sophomore guard Brad Karp (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week Tuesday when the weekly award was released by the conference office. Karp averaged 30.0 points and 9.3 rebounds over a three-game stretch last week to lead the No. 24 ranked Cougars to three victories and extend the team win streak to four games. SXU defeated Trinity International University (Ill.), Saint Ambrose University (Iowa) and Indiana University-Northwest (Ind.) and topped the century mark in all three games.
With a double-double performance against Indiana-Northwest in a 105-71 win, Karp finished with 35 points and 12 rebounds, while making 14 of his 20 shots from the floor. He started the week with 27 points and nine rebounds in a 101-77 victory over Trinity International and then posted 28 points and seven rebounds against Saint Ambrose, which SXU won 101-72. He shot 69 percent from the floor and 69 percent from the foul line with six blocks on the week.
Saint Xavier (5-3 overall) will look to make it five straight wins when it takes on Holy Cross College (Ind.) in non-conference actiontonight. The home game will tip off at 7 p.m. at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
