CHICAGO – Behind second-half goals by freshman midfielder Luis Medina (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) and senior forward Matt Klancic (Aurora, Ill./Bowling Green State University/Waubonsie Valley), the No. 2 seeded Saint Xavier University men's soccer team rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat No. 4 seed Judson University (Ill.), 2-1, in the championship game of the 2011 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament on a windy Saturday night at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.  With the victory, the Cougars win their second straight CCAC Tournament title and now advance to the opening round game of the 2011 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championships.  The pairings for the national tournament are scheduled to be announced early next week.

Just under 10 minutes into play, the Eagles took the early advantage in the game when senior forward Mike Tobie scored from 20 yards deep on a break-away that was set up by an assist from senior forward Martin Khoshaba.  Judson would hold the 1-0 lead for the rest of the half and for the first five minutes of the second period before Medina tied things up in the 51stminute on an unassisted shot right in front of the net.  The Cougars would strike again in the 80thminute when Klancic scored on a shot from 10 yards out that gave SXU the 2-1 advantage.  Senior midfielder Samuel Sprauer (Carol Stream, Ill./Azusa Pacific University/Ohio State University/Glenbard North) recorded the assist on Klancic's go-ahead goal.  Sophomore keeper Kyle Held (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) finished with nine saves for the Cougars Saturday.  Judson junior keeper Neil Thompson posted seven stops in the game.

Saint Xavier (13-8-0 overall/8-2-0 CCAC) now awaits its seed and pairing for the 2011 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championships, which begins opening round play on Saturday, November 19.  The Cougars should learn their opening round opponent and site when the NAIA national office officially releases them early next week.
