Normal, Ill. - Nicole Nonnemacher, a senior pitcher at Normal Community High School in Normal, Ill., signed a letter of intent Wednesday to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar softball program. The Bloomington, Ill., native will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2012 and will compete for playing time on the field during the 2013 season. Her sister, Megan, is currently a sophomore pitcher for the Cougars.
Nonnemacher is the daughter of Jeff and Mary Nonnemacher of Bloomington. She is currently coached by Bob Grimes at Normal Community High School. Nonnemacher is looking to pursue a degree in nursing next year at Saint Xavier University. She was named the 2011 Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and a unanimous first team selection on the All-Big 12 Softball Team last spring as a junior for the Ironmen.
"Nicole is an incredibly talented player and a dominating pitcher," said Saint Xavier University softball coach Myra Minuskin. "She will help take this program to the next level."
