
Elgin, Ill. – Sophomore keeper Anita Balciunas (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) finished with 11 saves, but the No. 7 seeded Saint Xavier University women's soccer team could not generate any offense and fell 1-0 to No. 18 ranked and No. 2 seeded Judson University (Ill.) Saturday in first-round action of the 2011 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament in Elgin, Ill. SXU finished with six total shots in the game, including two on-goal attempts. With the loss, the Cougars are eliminated from the tourney and end their season.
The Eagles posted the game-winning goal in the fourth minute of action Saturday when sophomore midfielder Kailyn Quinn scored off a nicely positioned corner kick by freshman forward Jenna Steffensen. Judson recorded 17 total shots and 12 shots on goal in the victory. SXU got a shot on goal apiece by freshman forward Morgan Graves (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) and freshman midfielder Cassie Pullia (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township).
Saint Xavier ends its season with an overall record of 8-10-1. The Cougars finished seventh in the final CCAC standings at 4-5-1.
