Joliet, Ill. – Saint Xavier University junior outside hitter Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Volleyball Player of the Week Monday when the honors were released by the conference office. In five matches on the week, Mullaney was instrumental in helping the Cougars improve to 28-4 overall and move one step closer to claiming at least a share of the CCAC regular season title, its first since 2007. It is the second time this season that Mullaney has claimed the conference's weekly honor.
Mullaney racked up 59 kills and 39 digs over the five-match stretch and boasted an attack percentage of .323. She also posted eight service aces and four total blocks, including two solo stops. It is the third time this season that a SXU player has won the CCAC award with Mullaney claiming it back on August 29 and junior setter Desiree Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./Radford University/Mother McAuley) earning it on September 5.
Saint Xavier (28-4 overall/10-1 CCAC) wraps up its regular season slate on Tuesday, November 1, with a road match against Trinity International University (Ill.). The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start in Deerfield, Ill.
