CHICAGO - On Sunday, April 22, Jill Carlson from "The Final Word" on WFLD-TV (Channel 32) aired a story on Saint Xavier University senior Nick Tantillo, starting third baseman on the Cougar baseball team over the last four years. Nick was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December 2005 and had emergency surgery to remove it. After a year, fragments of a more aggressive and rare form of tumor were found again in his brain and another emergency surgery was performed.

Throughout this life-changing and traumatic experience for Nick and his family, one thing has held constant—his love for playing the game of baseball. He was able to fully recover after both surgeries and rejoin his coaches and teammates for each of the past two seasons, including the 2006 campaign where he helped lead the Cougars to their first NAIA World Series appearance in 18 years.
