CHICAGO – Senior keeper Ashley Shugar (Lake Orion, Mich./Western Illinois University/Lake Orion) finished with three saves and her sixth shutout of the season on "Senior Night." However, Saint Xavier University could not find the back of the net in a scoreless, double-overtime affair with Trinity International University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) women's soccer action Wednesday evening at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. With the tie, the Cougars now sit in sixth place in the conference standings with a 4-4-1 mark and have an overall record of 8-8-1.
SXU threatened to take the lead numerous times and finished with 10 shots-on-goal in the game. Freshman forward Morgan Graves (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) and junior forward Elysha Peele (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) each tallied three shots-on-goal on the night. The Cougars out-shot the visiting Trojans, 18-9, in Wednesday's game.
Saint Xavier (8-8-1 overall/4-4-1 CCAC) heads to Palos Heights, Ill., on Saturday, October 29, for its regular season finale against No. 19 ranked Trinity Christian College (Ill.). The game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start.
