CHICAGO – Senior middle blocker Kim Scudder (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) finished with eight kills, four block assists and three service aces to help lead the Saint Xavier University volleyball team to a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) win over Robert Morris University (Ill.) Tuesday on "Senior/Parents Night" at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars finished the match with a season-best 15 service aces and won in three sets by scores of 25-12, 25-19 and 25-18. Along with Scudder, SXU honored its other four seniors, libero Erin Sebo (Downers Grove, Ill./St. Scholastica/Downers Grove North), defensive specialist Jenna Wartenberg (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township), setter Jaclyn Major (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) and setter Ashley August (LaGrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township) prior to Tuesday's match.
Junior outside hitter Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) tallied an impressive seven aces in the match, while also finishing with six kills and two block assists. In addition, junior outside hitter Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) played well for the Cougars with eight kills and nine digs. Setting up the SXU attack was junior setter Desiree Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./Radford University/Mother McAuley) with 23 set assists and five kills. Junior libero Christine Bowe (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) was solid defensively with nine digs.
Saint Xavier (24-4 overall/10-1 CCAC) heads to Lebanon, Ill., this weekend for the McKendree University Invitational. The Cougars play the first of four weekend matches on Friday, October 28, at 2 p.m. against Iowa Wesleyan University.
