Joliet, Ill. – For the third consecutive week, Saint Xavier University senior Rachael Dean (Lindenhurst, Ill./Judson University/Lakes) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week after finishing third overall at the 33-team NAIA Great Lakes Challenge Cross Country Invitational this past Saturday in Grand Rapids, Mich. It is the fourth time this season that she has garnered the weekly award.
Going up against a number of nationally ranked teams including No. 1 Azusa Pacific University (Calif.) and No. 6 Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.), Dean shined by finishing the 5K (5,000 meters) course with a time of 18:08.29 for third place in field of 337 runners. She led the No. 13 ranked Cougars to a sixth-place team finish at the meet. Dean had a 5:50-mile pace at Saturday's meet and finished only behind a pair of runners from No. 1 ranked Azusa Pacific.
Saint Xavier takes this weekend off in preparation for the CCAC meet on Saturday, November 5, at Aspen Ridge Golf Course in Bourbonnais, Ill. The women's race is scheduled for a 10:30 a.m. start.
