Kansas City, Mo. - With its season-opening exhibition against NCAA Division I DePaul University (Ill.) less than two weeks away, the Saint Xavier University women's basketball team secured the No. 13 ranking when the NAIA released its Women's Division I Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Preseason Poll from the national office Monday afternoon.  The Cougars, who return three starters from last year's squad, are coming off another big season after going 24-7 overall, winning the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) with a 9-1 mark, earning as high as a No. 5 national ranking and making their ninth straight appearance at the NAIA Women's Basketball Division I National Championships.

"This ranking continues a tradition for our program of being recognized among the top NAIA teams in the preseason poll," said SXU women's basketball coach Bob Hallberg.  "Our team knows what it takes to play against the best and this year will be no exception.  We will play three of the NAIA's top six teams at the Rotary Classic in Jackson, Tenn., in November, so we will be tested early on this season."

Saint Xavier opens its 2011-12 campaign on Saturday, November 5, with an exhibition against DePaul University (Ill.) at the McGrath-Phillips Arena in Chicago.  The game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
