Clinton, Iowa - Led by 17 kills by junior outside hitter Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community), the No. 25 ranked Saint Xavier University volleyball team won its eighth straight match with a non-conference road victory against Ashford University (Iowa) at Kehl Arena Thursday night in Clinton, Iowa. SXU claimed the match in four sets winning the first two, 27-25 and 25-17, dropping the third one 20-25 and then taking the fourth set, 25-9. Junior middle blocker Colleen O'Hara (Lemont, Ill./University of Iowa/Lemont) also had a big match for the Cougars finishing 13 kills and three block assists.

Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) was another key contributor to Thursday's win with 11 kills and team-best 11 digs, while junior libero
Christine Bowe (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) chipped in 10 digs. Seniors

Jaclyn Major (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) split the setting duties for SXU with August posting 22 assists and Major recording 19. Senior middle blocker
Kim Scudder (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) was impressive on serves finishing with a match-best three aces to go along with her nine kills on the night. As a team, the Cougars were efficient with their attacks posting 57 total kills and an attack percentage of .319.
Saint Xavier (23-3 overall/9-1 CCAC) takes on another non-conference foe from Iowa on Friday, October 21, with a match against Saint Ambrose University (Iowa). The match will take place at Palos Courts in Palos Heights, Ill., starting at 7 p.m.
