Whiting, Ind. – Senior middle blocker Kim Scudder (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) led the Saint Xavier University volleyball team with eight kills and three total blocks (one solo, two assisted) in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) road win over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) Tuesday night in Whiting, Ind. The Cougars (16-3 overall/6-1 CCAC) had little trouble winning the match in three sets finishing with scores of 25-8, 25-11 and 25-12. SXU finished the match with an attack percentage of .400 with 33 total kills and only five attacking errors.
Senior setter Jaclyn Major (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) posted team-highs of 15 assists and 13 digs for Saint Xavier. Senior setter Ashley August (LaGrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township) also had a nice night with 14 assists and seven digs. Junior outside hitter Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) tallied five service aces in the match in addition to her five kills and five digs.
Saint Xavier (16-3 overall/6-1 CCAC) hosts a big conference match with league-leading Trinity Christian College (Ill.) on Thursday, October 6. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
