Elgin, Ill. – Saint Xavier University freshman forward Morgan Graves (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week when the honor was released by the conference office late Monday. Graves was instrumental in all six goals as the Cougars split their two conference games last week, a 4-0 road win over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) and a 3-2 overtime loss to No. 25 ranked Judson University (Ill.) in Elgin, Ill. It was the first time in her career that she has earned the weekly recognition.
Graves was exceptional from an offensive standpoint for SXU last week scoring four goals and posting a pair of assists over the two-game stretch. In the 4-0 road win over Calumet College (Ind.), Graves recorded a hat trick (three goals) and also assisted the first goal of the game to take part in every score. In the tough 3-2 overtime loss to Judson, she was also key in both scores helping to assist the game-tying goal and then scoring the go-ahead goal just before halftime on a rebound off a penalty kick save. Graves leads the team in goals (9), assists (5) and total points (23) and is fifth in the conference in scoring (23) and goals (9).
Saint Xavier (6-5-0 overall/2-1 CCAC) hosts Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) on Tuesday, October 4, for a CCAC match-up. The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.
