Kansas City, Mo. – Just hours after learning that Saint Xavier University had swept the three Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League Players of the Week awards, senior quarterback Jimmy Coy (Park Ridge, Ill./Valdosta State University/El Camino College/Maine South) and senior kicker Tom Lynch (Frankfort, Ill./Southern Illinois University/Joliet Junior College/Lincoln-Way East) were named the NAIA Football Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Weeks, respectively.  Coy and Lynch were both instrumental in the No. 1 ranked Cougars' 42-31 road victory over No. 2 University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Saturday afternoon in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Coy was efficient and mistake free in leading the SXU offense to the huge road win over No. 2 Saint Francis (Ind.).  He was 29 for 43 in his pass attempts for 338 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed 14 times for 37 yards while not committing a turnover.  He had a touchdown pass in each of the final three quarters after SXU trailed 10-0 after the first quarter of play and also kicked two punts for the Cougars averaging 57.5 yards per attempt.

Lynch made five-of-six field goal attempts in the Cougars victory against No. 2 Saint Francis. The 2010 Fred Mitchell Award winner that goes to college football's best kicker nailed field goals of 50 and 48 yards.  Lynch also kicked the momentum-shifting onside kick to start the second half that was recovered by SXU.  That play led to the go-ahead touchdown on the ensuing drive. He also tied a school single-game record for points by a kicker with 18.

Saint Xavier (5-0 overall/1-0 MSFA) heads to Canton, Ohio, this Saturday to take on Malone University (Ohio) in a non-conference match-up.  The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. (eastern) start at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
