Upland, Ind. – Junior outside hitter Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) finished with 14 kills and nine digs, but it was not enough to propel the Saint Xavier University volleyball team past No. 13 Taylor University (Ind.) Saturday evening in Upland, Ind.  The Cougars (15-3 overall) lost the match in four sets falling by scores of 16-25, 22-25, 25-23 and 19-25.  It was the first loss for SXU since September 6 with the team winning its previous seven matches.   

Junior setter Desiree Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./Radford University/Mother McAuley) also played well for the Cougars Saturday posting team-bests of 37 assists and 20 digs.  Senior middle blocker Kim Scudder (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) tallied double digits in kills with 10 to go along with three service aces.  Other key performers for SXU were junior libero Christine Bowe (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) with 14 digs and junior outside hitter Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) with nine kills and 10 digs. 

Saint Xavier (15-3 overall/5-1 CCAC) heads to Whiting, Ind., on Tuesday, October 4, to continue Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play against Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.).  The conference road match will kick off at 7 p.m. (central).
