Elgin, Ill. – With all four goals of the game scored before the 28th minute of regulation, the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team fell short dropping a tough road game to Judson University, 3-1, in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Saturday afternoon in Elgin, Ill. The host Eagles netted all three of their goals in the game's opening 16 minutes before SXU senior midfielder Al Palar (Zabrze, Poland/Plainfield Central) put the Cougars on the scoreboard with a goal in the 27th minute. With the loss, SXU falls to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in the conference standings.
Senior forward Matt Klancic (Aurora, Ill./Bowling Green State University/Waubonsie Valley) set up Palar's goal off a throw-in pass. Freshman keeper A.J. Pfatschbacher (West Dundee, Ill./Jacobs) finished the game with seven saves for the Cougars. SXU tallied 10 shots in the game, including five on goal. Judson posted 15 shots in the game with 10 on goal attempts.
Saint Xavier (4-5-0 overall/2-1-0 CCAC) returns home to face another conference foe in Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) on Tuesday, October 4. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.
