Elgin, Ill. - Junior middle blocker Colleen O'Hara (Lemont, Ill./University of Iowa/Lemont) finished with match-bests of 11 kills and two block assists to lead Saint Xavier University to a win over Judson University in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) volleyball action Tuesday night at the Lindner Fitness Center in Elgin, Ill. It took the Cougars just three sets to secure the match winning by scores of 25-14, 25-20 and 25-15. SXU improves to 14-2 overall with the victory and 4-1 in the CCAC.
Junior outside hitter Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) also had a nice night for Saint Xavier posting nine kills and team-best 12 digs. Junior setter Desiree Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./Radford University/Mother McAuley) recorded 33 assists, eight digs and a pair of service aces for the red-hot Cougars, who have won 10 of their last 11 matches. Other top performers for SXU were junior outside hitter Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) with 10 kills and seven digs and junior libero Christine Bowe (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) with 11 digs and an ace. O'Hara completed the match with an attack percentage of .647 committing no errors and 11 kills out of her 17 attack attempts.
Saint Xavier (14-2 overall/4-1 CCAC) faces off against conference rival University of St. Francis (Ill.) on Thursday, September 29, at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The big home match for the Cougars is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
