CHICAGO - Veronica Witteman, a senior libero/defensive specialist from Riverside-Brookfield High School in Riverside, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar volleyball program. She was coached by Mark Gouwens during her prep career for the Bulldogs of Riverside.
Witteman is the daughter of Jim and Laura Witteman of Riverside. Although she played at the outside hitter position in high school, Witteman will be moved to the libero/defensive specialist position next season for the Cougars. She is looking to pursue a degree in education next year at Saint Xavier University.
"Veronica is going to add depth to our team in the defensive specialist area," said Saint Xavier University volleyball coach Bob Heersema. "I'm really excited about her addition to our program and think she will be a good part of our future. She comes from a very good prep volleyball program at Riverside-Brookfield."
